Joy in the Journey

I am a major planner! I get anxiety if I don’t feel totally prepared for every possible end of the world scenario even when I’m just going to run a few local errands. Super prepared if I’m going to be traveling longer than an hour. And overly abundantly obsessively prepared if it’s anywhere new!! Spontaneity is NOT my middle name. Or is it? See when it comes to having to go places or do things, I am all lists, all day! Check. Check. Double check. Yet when it comes to my own personal adventures I jump in the ocean not knowing which way is shore!! It’s complicated.

That perm that I decided to just go ahead and get done on a Saturday afternoon in 1992 after flipping though a phone book for beauty salons is a prime example of my spontaneity blowing up in my face – literally!! So now that you know my approximate age I can be honest in saying yes, it’s taken me this long to figure out that planning doesn’t have to always be anxiety based and can be exciting!

I understand that it can be difficult to restrain yourself from going mach10 when you see what you want in the distance! When you finally clarify your vision, you want to go all in yesterday!! I have plenty of more serious stories involving me taking off running after my dream only to circle back to the starting line months, even years, later because I got lost somewhere along the way. I have other stories of being so overly prepared that I was frozen, unable to even take the first step. It’s a balancing act. And it’s one that you don’t need to navigate on your own.

Whether you find yourself unsure of what your vision is, what the next step should be, lost along the way or frozen in place, let’s talk! I believe you have a destiny within you. I believe you have the power to fulfill it too! Maybe you just need to find that balance, that starting point. Maybe you need to circle back, reevaluate, try another path. Whatever the case, you can get there! And if you happen to get a bad perm or two along the way, it's all good. There's joy in the journey! Let's take off!
